Position V3 (power amp) will accept the following octal based power valves:-
EL34
6L6GC
5881
6CA7
6550
Experimenting with different power valves will again produce different tones from the
amplifier and the power output will vary.
Our particular favourites for power valves were as follows:-
EL34
for crunchy rhythm playing and very British sounding heavy overdrive at
bearable volume levels.
6L6GC for less harsh, more creamy overdive tone.
KT88
for real 'dirty' sounding tone.
Experimentation with different valves is not compulsory, the Velocette SE has been
tweaked so that with the factory fitted valves a good range of sounds are instantly
available, but there are some tones that only a valve change could achieve. So if you're
the sort of person that enjoys experimentation in the pleasures of life then go ahead and
have fun! (Just be sure to respect your partners limits.)
