OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Operation
1. Hold the drill with your two upper fingers
comfortably on the trigger switch.
2. Use the auxiliary handle where possible to
gain extra control and to prevent fatigue.
NOTES.
a) Use sharp drill bits only.
b) For wood, use twist drill bits, spade bits,
power auger bits, or hole saws.
c) For metal, use high speed steel twist drill
bits, or hole saws.
d) For masonry such as brick, cement, cinder
block, etc., use carbide tipped drill bits.
e) Be sure that the material to be drilled is
anchored or clamped firmly.
f) If drilling thin material, use a "back-up" block
to prevent damage to the material.
3. Always apply pressure in a straight line with
the bit.
GB
4. Use enough pressure to keep the bit biting
but do not push so hard that you stall the
motor or damage the bit.
18
5. Hold the drill firmly to control the twisting of
the drill.
WARNING! If the drill stalls, release the trigger
immediately, remove the drill from the work
and determine the cause of the stalling. Do not
click the switch on and off as this can damage
the motor.
6. To minimise the chance of stalling and
breaking through the material, reduce
pressure on the drill and ease the bit
through the last part of the hole.
7. Keep the motor running when pulling the
bit back out of a drilled hole. This will help
prevent jamming.
Drilling in wood and plastic
Holes in wood and plastic can be made
with the same HS twist drills used for metal.
However, do not use twist drills meant for
wood when drilling in metal.
Bits may overheat unless pulled out frequently
to clear the chips from the flutes.
For large holes, use only low speed wood bits.
NOTE: Work that is prone to splinter should be
backed up with a block of wood.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Drilling in metal
Use a cutting lubricant when drilling metals.
The exceptions are cast iron and brass that
should be drilled dry.
1. Push the slide switch to the position.
2. Keep an even force on the drill bit but not
so much that you crack brittle materials.
3. A smooth, even flow of dust indicates the
proper drilling rate.
Maintenance
WARNING! Always ensure that the tool is
switched off and the plug is removed from the
power point before making any adjustments or
maintenance procedures.
Cleaning
1. Keep the tool's air vents unclogged and
clean at all times.
2. Remove dust and dirt regularly. Cleaning is
best done with a rag.
3. Never use caustic agents to clean plastic
parts.
CAUTION: Do not use cleaning agents to
clean the plastic parts of the drill. A mild
detergent on a damp cloth is recommended.
Water must never come into contact with the
drill.
General inspection
Regularly check that all the fixing screws are
tight. They may vibrate loose over time.
