Use and operation

Operation

1 Load and prime gun as required.
2 Wipe end of coupler (1) and fitting to be
lubricated with a clean cloth.
3 Attach coupler to lubrication fitting.
4 Operate lever (7) using either volume or
pressure mode until required amount of
product is dispensed.
5 Remove coupler from fitting with a side-
ways motion.

Loading

Cartridge Loading
1 Unscrew head assembly (5) from
cylinder (9) († Fig. IPB 1, page 6).
2 Pull plunger rod (10) out, then slowly
return to eject empty cartridge.
3 Pull plunger rod out and engage groove on
plunger rod with slot in cylinder cap (12)
(† Fig. 2, page 5).
4 Remove plastic cap from grease cartridge
and discard.
5 Insert cartridge into cylinder (open
end first) until metal lip seats.
6 Remove tabbed seal from car-
tridge and discard.
7 Screw head assembly securely
onto cylinder.
8 Disengage plunger rod from slot in
cylinder's cap. Push into cylinder.
9 Prime gun according to section entitled
Priming (page 4).
Suction loading
1 Unscrew head assembly (5) from
cylinder (9) († Fig. IPB 1, page 6).
2 Insert head of cylinder below surface
of grease.
3 Slowly pull plunger rod (10) outward from
cylinder cap until groove is visible. Engage
groove in plunger rod with slot in cylin-
der's cap (12) († Fig. 2, page 5).
4 Screw head assembly securely onto
cylinder.
5 Disengage plunger rod from cylinder cap.
Push plunger rod into cylinder.
6 Prime gun according to section entitled
Priming (page 4).
NOTE
Before gun can be loaded from a loader
pump, pipe plug (8) in head must be
replaced with a loader fitting (Alemite
B306740 or B322610).*
 WARNING
Do not use a high-pressure grease fit-
ting as a loader fitting. Personal injury
can occur due to excessive pressure.
Loading from a loader pump
1 Wipe loader fitting with a clean cloth.
2 If gun is not completely empty, extend
plunger rod.
3 Seat loader fitting into loader coupler
(Alemite 306741) on loader pump.
4 Operate pump until groove on plunger rod
is visible.
5 Push plunger rod into cylinder.
6 Prime gun according to section entitled
Priming (page 4).

Priming

Overview
Priming is the act of removing air and intro-
ducing grease into the pumping mechanism.
Whether a gun primes is dependent on:
– viscosity of grease
– temperature of grease
– condition of gun
Force prime
With link in volume position, gun should
prime after operating lever several times.
Should grease fail to appear, head assembly
must be bled.
1 Pull plunger rod (10) out then rotate rod to
latch rod onto grease plunger († Fig. 3,
page 5).
2 Push plunger rod while depressing air
bleed valve (4) to allow air to escape
(† Fig. 4, page 5).
3 Rotate plunger rod to unlatch from
grease plunger then push into cylinder.
