Stay clear of steam, hose, hose fittings and steam
plate surface. DO NOT place hand in front of steam
l
plate.
Water drops are hot and may burn skin. Use extreme
caution when using steam plate overhead, and
l
routinely empty water from steam plate. Wear eye
protection.
Allow parts to cool before changing accessories
and/or opening fill cap.
l
Never point steam plate at anyone.
DO NOT over fill water container.
l
DO NOT strain or kink hose. Replace hose if it is
l
cracked, worn, or damaged. Never repair a damaged
l
hose.
DO NOT allow water to boil dry. Boiling dry may
cause overheating and fire.
l
DO NOT allow water or steam to enter light or
sockets.
l
Power cord must be connected to grounded
(3 prong) outlet.
l
This product should be grounded. In the event of an electrical short circuit, grounding reduces the risk of electric shock by providing
an escape wire for the electric current. This product is equipped with a cord having grounding wire with an appropriate grounding
plug. The plug must be plugged into an outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and
ordinances.
DANGER - Improper installation of the grounding plug can result in a risk of electric shock.
If repair or replacement of the cord or plug is necessary, have your nearest Earlex Authorized Service Center replace it.
Check with a qualified electrician or serviceman if the grounding instructions are not completely understood, or if in doubt as to
whether the product is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug provided; if it will not fit the outlet, have the proper outlet installed
by a qualified electrician.
Use only a 3-wire extension cord that has a 3-blade grounding plug, and a 3-slot receptacle that will accept the plug on the product.
Make sure your extension cord is in good condition. When using an extension cord, be sure to use one heavy enough to carry the
current your product will draw. For lengths less than 50', No. 18 AWG extension cords should be used, and over 50' use 14 to 16
AWG extension cords. An undersized cord will cause a drop in line voltage resulting in loss of power and overheating.
The heat generated by the boiler unit can mark carpets, soft furnishings, table tops, cabinets etc.
To prevent this we recommend placing the unit on a wooden board, tray or other barrier - making sure it will not slip off one side or tilt
during use.
Dust sheets or newspapers are not suitable heat protectors for delicate surfaces.
Check the state of your plaster before starting work.
Steam can loosen weak, porous or poorly bonded plaster - which also loosens readily if cracked, holed or if the steam plate is held in
one position for too long after the paper is soaked.
Weak plaster can normally be detected by tapping a few areas of wall. A hollow sound indicates that you should proceed only with
extreme care - stopping immediately if you hear a cracking sound or plaster starts to break loose.
The steam stripper is safe for drywall/plaster board surfaces but whatever the material, it is always wise to check a small area before
starting work properly.
