FAULT FINDING

1. Energizer
a. Disconnect fence wire from energizer.
b. Connect volt meter to energizer output
terminals.
c. Check voltage reading and compare with
previous readings.
d. If energizer is working OK check earth system.
2. Earth System
a. Short out electric fence (100m (300 ) from
energizer) by placing earthed steel rods
against fence.
b. Insert a test earth rod into ground
approximately one metre (3 ) from energizer
earth system and connect volt meter.
c. The ideal reading should be between 0 and
0.2kV.
d. If the reading exceeds 0.2kV, addi onal
earthing is required.
3. Fence Line
a. Isolate sec ons of fence taking reading to
iden fy the sec on.
b. A er iden fying the sec on, travel along the
fence line taking readings at 100m (300 )
intervals un l the fault is located.
