1. Description
The Wire-Wrap Tool 14YB3 is equipped with a security insulation and is powered by 230 V
mains power. The universal motor has a ball bearing on both sides. The carbon brushes are
relaceable. The tool yields an interference suppression of 12 dB below EMI class N; thus it is
suitable for application with telecommunication devices. The index angle can be adjusted
without tools in stps of 45° after loosening the adjustment nut, allowing for adaptation to the
handling of the wires and their outgoing direction. The wrap bits and sleeves can also be
exchanged without tools. While model 29315AA3 has a rigid shaft the wrap pawl is displaced
axially against the spring pressure during the wrap process. Wrap bits and sleeves are available
for all current wires and wrap pawls. Wires from AWG 30 to AWG 22 can be processed with
CSW bits (for combined cutting and stripping). The wrap bits and sleeves are not included in
standard delivery and have to be ordered separately.
Power supply:
230 V, 50-60 Hz
Power consumption:
30 W
Intermittent operation:
2 sec. ON / 18 sec. OFF
Wrapping range:
AWG 30 to AWG 18
Fuse:
315 mA slow
EMI suppression:
12 dB below class N

2. Operation

For the installation of the wrap bit and the sleeve, the nut has to be loosened. First insert the
wrap bit into the collet, then the sleeve. The sleeve has to locked into the retention pin. Then
fasten the nut manually while the tool is operating. If you want to change the index angle,
loosen the adjustment nut and rotate the whole collet assembly into the desired position.

3. Maintenance

Disconnect mains power plug before carrying out any maintenance work. The assembly of
the tool has to be performed as shown in the exploded view. When mounting it is important
to align motor and gearing carefully. The planetary gearing and the slip friction clutch have to
be lubricated after each dismounting with grease type ESSO BACON 2. For replacing the
carbon brushes lift the spring clips, replace the used brushes by new ones and put the spring
back into place.
