SE193KB is calibrated to detect Unleaded Gasoline/Petrol Vapours heavier than air and highly flammable. Its
density as to air about 2.8 and its LEL (Lower Explosive Limit) is about 1.2%v/v (%volume).
TS193KI is calibrated to detect Hydrogen (H
gas. Its density as to air is 0.07 and its LEL (Lower Explosive Limit) is 4% volume.

OPERATIONAL DESCRIPTION

The catalytic sensor is practically insensitive to humidity and temperature variations. The calibration is carried out
for the specific gas to be detected. Anyway, it can contemporaneously detect any other flammable gas that should
be present in the same environment.
On the PCB (printed circuit board placed inside the housing) there are two F1 e F2 keys, using for the Test and Cal-
ibration routine, protected by a code. The Green "ON" indicates normal operation, and Yellow "FAULT" indicates
sensor faulty or disconnected or out of scale or expired.
Preheating: when the detector is powered, a pre-heating time of about 60 seconds begins, indicated by the flashing of
the yellow "FAULT" LED and during this time the output remains at 4 mA. Then the Green LED "ON" lights up to in-
dicate normal operation. After this period the unit is able to detect gas even if it attains the optimum stability condi-
tions after about 48 hours continual functioning. Afterwards it is advisable to check in clean air that the output is
about "4 mA" (0% LIE on the control unit to which the detector is connected) and only if necessary, proceed to "Zero Adjust" as
indicated in FUNTIONAL TESTING / ZERO ADJUST.
Faults: In case of sensor damage, the "S" output falls down to 0 mA (FAULT). The signal will then be interpreted by
the control unit and reported as a fault situation.
Note: the LEDs are not visible when the enclosure is closed, but, only after setting the plant in safety, it is possible
to open the enclosure and check that:
If the Yellow LED is on and the Green is off it indicates more possibilities of fault:
1)
If 0mA Output indicates that the "Sensor" is faulty, it will be necessary to replace and/or send the detector to
the supplier for repair.
2) If the Output is > 24mA indicates, or the "Sensor" fault, or a gas concentration higher than 25% LEL. If there
are no gas leaks and the condition does not change, it will be necessary to replace and/or send the detector to
the supplier for repair.
Average life: The sensitive element used in this detector has an excellent stability in time. In fresh air and in normal
working condition the sensor's life is about 5 years.
The Yellow LED lights up every 4 seconds (with the Green LED on): to warn that the Sensor has exceeded its life
limit (about 5 years) and the correct operation is no longer guaranteed. The detector continues to operate, but it is
necessary, as soon as possible, to replace it with a new one.
Periodical testing: The verification with Gas/Air mixture is the only safe method to check the effective operation of
the detector and the correct response to the gas. It is recommended to perform the testing every 6-12 months. After
2 year, we advise to perform the recalibration of the circuit with Gas/Air mixture as explained later in the
FUNTIONAL
TESTING.

INSTALLATION

The detector must be accurately installed according to all the national dispositions in force on the safety of the
plants and installation of electric devices in areas with danger of explosion.
Model SE193KM positioning: Methane (CH
the ceiling and be placed at 1-1.5 meter from the gas appliance, far from room corners or from ventilation intakes.
Model SE193KG positioning: LPG is a gas heavier than air. The detector should be fixed at 30 cm. from the floor
and be placed at 1-1.5 meter from the gas appliance, far from the room corners or from ventilation intakes.
Model SE193KB positioning: Petrol / Gasoline vapours are heavier than air. The detector should be fixed at
30÷40 cm from the floor. Far from the room corners or from ventilation intakes.
Model SE193KI positioning: Hydrogen (H
from the ceiling and be placed far from room corners or from ventilation intakes.
Mounting: The
Fig. 3
shows the instrument size. The fastening must be executed, using the appropriate mounting
holes Ø 6mm. The unit must be positioned vertically with the sensor downwards. Avoid obstacles that block the dif-
fusion of air around the sensor. Consider that the air movements can affect the detection of gas. Avoid mounting in
corners, near doors or windows or in the direct flow of air intakes or ventilation systems. Normally, the detector
should be installed indoors, but if it was outside, should be protected from direct sun and rain, and should be avoid-
ed fast heat drops.
Cable glands: The housing, upper part, has 1 entry for nickel-plated brass cable glands for shielded cables with
single or double seal with 3/4" male conical thread EN 10226-1 (expired standards ISO 7/1 Gas ¾" and UNI 6125 Gk¾").
Electric connections: are to be carried out using the three-pole terminal (please see the instructions enclosed with
the Gas Control Units). We recommend using a shielded 3-conductor cable, whose shielding must be connected to
ground on the Central side.
Warning: the Earth connection must be equipotential between all the installed detectors, but also relative to the
central unit and the other connected devices (e.g. for signalling and / or activation of the alarms).
Furthermore, it has to be guaranteeing a correct ground connection of the housing, using the correct ground con-
nection, placed on the side of the superior threaded hub.
The maximum distance from the control unit to which the detectors can be connected depends on the power supply
(See Table
2). Normally with cables 3x1.5mm
