Vor der Verpflichtung von Alain Prost im Jahre 1990 bestim-
men Emotionen, Intrigen und Machtkämpfe dasTagesgesche-
hen bei dem Ferrari Team, seit dem Vertrag mit dem bis dato
dreifachen Weltmeisters nimmt eine effizientere,
nellere Arbeitsweise Einzug bei der Scuderia. Die Belegschaft
Wird um 80 auf 300 Personenerhöht, Fiat-Ingenieure und von
der Konkurrenz abgeworbene
Team. Auch der Wagen des Typs 641 wartet mit erfolgver-
sprechenden Werten auf: der V-12 Motor liefert 700 PSbei
14000Umdrehungen, die Höchstgeschwindigkeit liegt bei gut
330 km/h. Die Umstellungen, der neue Fahrer und das viel-
versprechende Fahrzeug scheinen der Schlüsselzum Erfolg zu
sein. Prost gewinnt im 2. Rennen der Saison, in Interlagos bei
Sao Paulo, Brasilien. Pikanterweise befindet sich die Strecke in
der Nähe des Heimatortes seines Erzrivalen und ehemaligen
Teamkollegen Ayrton Senna. Der Konkurrenzkampf
beiden Fahrer, die als die besten Formel I Piloten zu Ende der
80er Jahre elten, dominiert
Verbissen ämpfen beide um die Punkteführung,
kontert mit hervorragenden Leistungen und drei Siegen
hintereinander auf den anfänglichen Punktvorsprung des
Brasilianers. Die Privatfehde findet ihren Höhepunkt im
vorletzten Rennen der Saison in Suzuka.

Beforethe engagementof Alain Prost1990,the daily routine
of the Ferrariteam was dominated by emotions, intrigues and
power struggles. Sincethe contract with the three times world
champion a more efficient, more professional way of doing
things has taken over at Scuderia. The work force has been
increased by 80 to 300 persons.The team has been enriched
das by Fiat engineers and specialistsshed by the competition. Also
the type 641 offers the following indicators for success:the
V 12 engine develops 700 bhp at 14000 revs, the maximum
speed is a good 330 km/h. The changes, the new driver and
the very promising car appear to hold the keyto success. P rost
wins the 2nd race of the season, at Interlagos near Sao Paulo,
Brazil. It is an irony that this track is so near the home of his
great rival and former team mate Ayrton Senna.The compe-
tition between the two

Their private feud comes to a head in the next to last race of

pionship title. In 1990 also the race was decided by a crash.
Only 400 metres out Senna got his revenge, the Ferrari lost its
rear wing, Prost spun and landed with Senna in the sand. It is
no longer possible to catch up on the Brazilian's 11 points
lead, Senna already hasthe world championship. The efforts
of the second Fe(rari pilot Nigel Mansell were not even
enough to win the Constructor's title which, after so long, had
come within reach of the Ferrari
