Explosion-protected portable socket distribution 16A,
3

Conformity with standards

The apparat is conform to the standards
specified in the EC-Declaration of conformity.
It has been designed, manufactured and
tested according to the state of the art and to
DIN EN ISO 9001.
94/9 EC: Equipment and protective systems
intended for use in potentially explosive at-
mospheres.
The apparats fulfil further requirements, such
as the EC directive on electromagnetic
compatibility (2004/108/EEC).
4

Field of application

The socket distributions GHG 931 are suitable for
use in Zone 1 and 2 hazardous areas acc. to
IEC 60079-10!
The enclosure materials used, including any
external metal parts, are high quality materials
which ensure a corrosion protection and
resistance to chemical substances corresponding
to the requirements in a "normal industrial
atmosphere":
- impact resistant polyamide
- glass-fibre reinforced polyester
- special steel AISI 316 L
In case of use in an extremely aggresive
atmosphere, please refer to manufacturer.
5
Application / Properties
The portable socket distribution is used for
the power supply of portable electric
machines and drives in potentially explosive
atmospheres.
The distibution can also be used in a "normal
industrial area".
The built-in flange sockets, type GHG 511, are
fitted with a load switch and can be used up
to max. 16A (see Technical Data in operating
instructions "16A plugs and sockets -
GHG 510 7001 P0001).
The portable socket distributions can
generally be used for the voltage range laid
down in IEC 309 (e.g. U
400V that
N
corresponds to the voltage range 380-415V).

GHG 931
The portable socket distributions can be used
with plugs of the series GHG 511 or plugs of
the series GHG 531 (for use in sockets of the
series GHG 511 and GHG 531).
Warning! When used with plugs of the
series GHG 531, the degree of protection is
reduced to "IP 54" when the plugs are
insert.

Taking into operation

Prior to taking the apparatus into operation,
the tests specified in the relevant national
regulations shall be carried out.
In addition to this, the correct functioning and
installation of the apparatus in accordance
with the corresponding operating instructions
and other applicable regulations shall be
checked.
Check the plug for any damages before
putting it in the socket.
In hazardous areas they may only be used
together with CEAG exlosion-protected
sockets or couplers.
The user must ensure that a uniform
equipotential earth applies throughout when
the plug and socket system is operated.
The improper installation and operation of
the socket distributions can entail the loss
of warranty.
7

Maintenance/Servicing

The relevant regulations IEC 60 079-17
which apply to the maintenance/servicing
of electrical apparatus in explosive
atmospheres, shall be observed.
Before opening the enclosure, make sure
that the device is disconnected from the
voltage, or take appropriate protective
measures.
The required maintenance intervals depend on
the specific application and shall, therefore to
be determined by the user dependent on the
conditions of use.
During servicing, special attention shall be
given to checking the parts on which the
explosion protection depends (e. g. intactness
of flameproof components, the enclosure, the
seals and the cable entries).
If, during servicing, repairs prove to be
necessary, section 8 of these operating
instructions will have to be observed.
8
Repair/Overhaul/
Modifications
Only original CEAG parts shall be used for
carrying out repairs.
In the event of damage to the flameproof
encapsulation or enclosure, replacement of
this apparatus is mandatory. In case of
doubt, the respective apparatus shall be
sent to CEAG for repair.
Repairs that affect the explosion
protection, may only be carried out by
CEAG or a qualified electrician in
compliance with the applicable national
rules (IEC 60079-19).
Modifications to the device or changes to
its design are not permitted.
9

Disposal/Recycling

When the apparatus is disposed of, the
respective national regulations on waste
disposal will have to be observed.
In order to facilitate the recycling of individual
components, plastic parts are provided with
the identification mark of the plastic material
used.
Subject to modifications or supplement of the
product range
