In the event of an electrical short circuit, grounding reduces the risk of electric shock by providing an escape wire for the electric current. Cabinet: Remove any protective film found on the microwave oven cabinet surface. Do not remove the light brown Mica cover that is attached to the oven cavity to protect the magnetron.
