REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS:
Improper handling of the EndoActivator handpiece may result in visible cracks forming adjacent to the joint between the
removable battery housing and the contra-angled portion of the handpiece, specifi cally, cracking results when the bat-
tery housing is removed incorrectly or is not properly aligned during replacement. Depending on the level of abuse, any
given crack may be thin and barely noticeable, or more prominent, especially when the battery housing is not properly
aligned then forced into position (FIGURE B). When cracking is confi ned to the removable battery housing, then the
handpiece may be repaired with the Battery Housing Replacement Part.
SPECIAL NOTE: Incorrectly removing and/or replacing the battery housing can cause internal damage to the PC board
and/or motor. Severe cracking may be associated with the handpiece operating intermittently or not at all. In these
instances, a new handpiece will be required.
1. To remove the damaged battery housing, fi rmly grasp the contra-angled portion of the
handpiece with one hand and begin turning the non-removable screw cap counter-
clockwise with the other hand.
2. Rotate the screw cap counterclockwise to disengage and progressively remove the
battery housing from the handpiece, then discard.
3. DO NOT grasp and forcefully rotate the battery housing! Cracking may result when
excessive force is used to dislodge the male tracks from the female guide slots. Only
the battery access screw cap is rotated counterclockwise to disengage and progres-
sively remove the battery housing as described above.
4. Confi rm the placement of a high quality lithium battery and select the new Battery
Housing Replacement Part. Before proceeding, turn the screw cap on the new part, in
a counterclockwise direction as noted above. Also note the elevated male orientational
tracks (see arrows).

5. To close the compartment, slide the new Battery Housing Replacement Part over the
®
battery and position the EndoActivator logo as pictured. ALIGN the tracks within the
grooves to properly orientate the battery housing.
6. Turn the screw cap clockwise until snug. The handpiece is now repaired and ready for
use. NOTE: If the screw cap has not been disengaged prior to sliding the housing over
the battery compartment, it will inadvertently "pop off" during the replacement process.
To correct, remove the housing, snap the screw cap back to place, and then properly
disengage as previously described before continuing.
MATERIALS NEEDED FOR REPAIR:

During future use, when the battery requires replacement, follow the instructions noted above for removing the battery
housing and for accessing the battery compartment. For longer life and optimal clinical performance, insert a premium
quality "AA" lithium battery. Orient the positive end of the battery toward the ON/OFF and 3-speed switches. If the prod-
uct is not going to be used for an extended period of time (two weeks or longer), the battery should be removed.

INSTRUCTIONS DE REPARATIONS
Une manipulation inadaptée de la pièce à main peut provoquer des fêlures visibles se formant à la jonction entre le
compartiment des piles et la partie angulée de la pièce à main. Ces fêlures peuvent apparaître principalement si la
partie amovible de ce compartiment n'est pas retirée ou remise dans le bon alignement. En fonction de l'amplitude de
l'erreur, ces fêlures peuvent être fi nes, à la limite du visible ou au contraire fl agrantes, notamment lorsque le comparti-
ment n'est pas remis dans le bon alignement et rentré en force. (FIGURE B). Si ces fêlures sont limitées à la partie
amovible du compartiment, le remplacement de cette pièce est envisageable afi n de réparer la pièce à main.
NOTE PARTICULIERE : Le retrait et/ou la remise en place incorrect du compartiment des piles peut provoquer des
dommages internes dans la pièce à main et/ou du moteur. Des fêlures importantes peuvent provoquer un fonc-
tionnement inadapté de l'appareil, voire l'empêcher complètement de fonctionner. Dans ce cas, la pièce à main doit être
remplacée.

1. Pour retirer la pièce abimée, tenir fermement la partie angulée de l'instrument avec
une main, et tourner l'extrémité du compartiment à pile dans le sens inverse des
aiguilles d'une montre avec l'autre main.
2. Tourner le compartiment dans le sens inverse des aiguilles d'une montre pour le
désengager puis le retirer lentement de la pièce à main et le jeter.
3. NE JAMAIS FORCER ni retirer en force ce compartiment. Des fêlures peuvent ap-
paraître si des forces excessives sont appliquées pour séparer les deux parties de
l'appareil. Seule l'extrémité du compartiment à piles est dévissé afi n de permettre le
désengagement du compartiment en entier tel que décrit ci-dessus.
4. Mettre en place une nouvelle pile au Lithium de haute qualité. Tourner préalablement
la pièce à main de façon à mettre les repères sur le dessus (voir fl èches).
5. Pour refermer, faire glisser le compartiment sur la pièce à main en positionnant le logo
tel que sur la photo ci contre. Aligner les repères males et femelles de façon à pouvoir
remettre en place le compartiment sans forcer.
6. Tourner la vis à l'extrémité du compartiment dans le sens des aiguilles d'une montre
jusqu'au blocage. NOTE: Si la vis ne parvient pas à s'engager dans sa contre partie,
c'est que le compartiment n'a pas été remis dans la position adéquate. Dans ce cas, le
retirer puis le remettre en place comme décrit ci-dessus.

Lors de l'utilisation, si la pile doit être remplacée, suivre les instructions ci-dessus. Pour optimiser la durée de l'appareil
et les performances cliniques, utiliser une pile de qualité optimale "AA" Lithium. Placer la pile de façon à mettre la partie
+ en direction du bouton ON/OFF et du bouton de contrôle des vitesses. Si l'appareil ne doit pas être utilisé pendant une
période prolongée (deux semaines au moins), les piles doivent être retirées.

REPARATURANLEITUNG
Bei unsachgemäßem Gebrauch des EndoActivator Handstücks können an der Verbindungsstelle zwischen dem
abnehmbaren Batteriegehäuse und dem abgewinkelten Hals des Handstücks sichtbare Risse auftreten. Es kommt
insbesondere dann zu Rissbildung, wenn das Batteriegehäuse unkorrekt entfernt bzw. in falscher Ausrichtung wieder
befestigt wird. Je nach der Art des Fehlgebrauchs können Risse dünn und kaum sichtbar oder, vor allem bei gewalt-
samer Wiederbefestigung eines falsch ausgerichteten Batteriegehäuses, deutlich ausgeprägt sein (ABBILDUNG B).
Beschränken sich die Risse auf das abnehmbare Batteriegehäuse, so kann das Handstück mit dem Batteriegehäuse-
Ersatzteil repariert werden.
HINWEIS: Unkorrekte Entfernung und/oder Wiederbefestigung des Batteriegehäuses kann auch zu Schäden an der
Leiterplatte und/oder am Motor im Inneren des Geräts führen. Erkennbar ist dies an größeren Rissen und an zeitweilig
oder ganz aussetzender Funktionsfähigkeit des Handstücks. In solchen Fällen ist ein neues Handstück erforderlich.

1. Zur Entfernung eines schadhaften Batteriegehäuses den abgewinkelten Hals des
Handstücks mit der einen Hand gut festhalten und die nicht abnehmbare Schraub-
kappe dann mit der anderen Hand gegen den Uhrzeigersinn drehen.
2. Die Schraubkappe so lange gegen den Uhrzeigersinn drehen, bis sich das Batteriege-
häuse vom Handstück löst und abziehen lässt. Das Gehäuse entsorgen.
3. NICHT das ganze Batteriegehäuse gewaltsam drehen! Beim Versuch, die Führungs-
kanten mit Gewalt aus den Rillen zu heben, können sich Risse bilden. Lediglich die
Schraubkappe, wie oben beschrieben, gegen den Uhrzeigersinn drehen, bis sich das
Batteriegehäuse vom Handstück löst und abziehen lässt
4. Kontrollieren, ob eine hochwertige Lithiumbatterie eingesetzt ist, und das Batteriege-
häuse-Ersatzteil zur Hand nehmen. Zunächst die Schraubkappe am neuen Gehäuse,
wie oben gezeigt, gegen den Uhrzeigersinn drehen. Die Führungskanten zur korrekten
Orientierung des Gehäuses beachten (siehe Pfeile).
5. Das neue Batteriegehäuse über das Batteriefach schieben und dabei das EndoActiva-
tor Logo wie im Bild gezeigt positionieren. Die Führungskanten (Orientierungsmarken)
auf die entsprechenden Rillen AUSRICHTEN.
6. Die Schraubkappe im Uhrzeigersinn festdrehen. Das Handstück ist nun repariert und
betriebsbereit. HINWEIS: Wird das Batteriegehäuse über das Batteriefach geschoben,
ohne dass vorher die Schraubkappe aufgedreht wurde, so kann die Kappe dabei
versehentlich wegspringen. In diesem Fall das Gehäuse abnehmen, die Schraub-
kappe wieder korrekt einsetzen und dann, wie oben beschrieben, gegen den Uhrzei-
gersinn drehen. Danach das Gehäuse befestigen.
ZUR REPARATUR ERFORDERLICH:
• Batteriegehäuse-Ersatzteil
Beim künftigen Auswechseln der Batterie bitte die obige Anleitung zum Abnehmen des Batteriegehäuses (Zugang zum
Batteriefach) beachten. Für möglichst lange Lebensdauer und optimale klinische Leistung eine hochwertige Lithiumbat-
terie Typ „AA" einsetzen. Der Pluspol der Batterie muss dabei in Richtung des EIN/AUS- und des Frequenzwahlschal-
ters zeigen. Wenn das Produkt über einen längeren Zeitraum (zwei Wochen oder mehr) nicht benutzt wird, sollte die
Batterie herausgenommen werden.
