Mounting components of the electromagnetic clutch
Clutch for engine shaft 1'' (106178/107971)
Install the clutch on the engine shaft as shown in figure
"mounting components ...", making sure to respect the
torque and the components specified in the following ta-
bles.
IMPORTANT: Hold the clutch support with a lock-grip
plier which will keep the engine shaft from turning and to
obtain the appropriate torque.
Make sure to respect the following points
•
If the diameter of the shoulder on the engine shaft if
smaller than 1-5/16, you need to install a clutch
spacer between the clutch and shaft engine shoulder
•
The clutch needs to be clamped between the engine
shaft shoulder (and if used, clutch spacer) and clutch
support 103976. So the engine shaft must not ex-
ceed the front of the clutch to achieve proper clamp-
ing when torque is applied to the bolt at the front of
the engine.
•
Before applying torque to the engine shaft bolt, make
sure the clutch is resting against the shoulder or
clutch spacer. If this is not the case you have an in-
terference between the clutch key and the engine
shaft keyseat that will prevent a good clamping. You
have to put additional clutch spacer to prevent this.
•
Make sure to follow the instruction in the validation of
clutch installation section.

NOTE 1: You may need to add a spacer bet-
ween the clutch and the existing spacer or
even changing this spacer. This is related to
the tolerances of different components. Most
importantly, is that the pulleys are aligned
and the back of the clutch is not in con-
tact with any other part other than the en-
gine shaft.Take note, for the All Power mo-
tor, the clutch spacer (item 3) 106616 must
be applied on the motor. Putting any other
spacer instead, may cause failure.
