CHMM3 Top Hat Adapter
Installation & Maintenance Information
To avoid the risk of fire, explosion, or electric shock:
• This product should be installed, inspected, and
maintained by a qualified electrician only, in accordance
with all applicable electrical codes.
• Reference luminaire for hazardous locations and
environmental ratings. This adapter is not suitable for
hazardous locations and environmental ratings not covered
by the luminaire. Additionally, the luminaire is not suitable
for hazardous locations and environmental ratings not
covered by the adapter.
To avoid electrical shock:
• Be certain electrical power is OFF before and during
installation and maintenance.
• The VMV/VMVL Champ® luminaire and the CHMM3 Top
Hat Adapter must be supplied by a wiring system with an
equipment grounding conductor
• Use proper supply wiring as specified on the VMV/VMVL
Champ® Series Luminaire nameplate.
Note: Champ series mentioned in this instruction sheet will refer
to VMV/VMVL Champ LED Series only.
APPLICATION
The CHMM3 top hat adapter is for use where Thomas &
Betts Hazlux® top hats are installed and where Crouse-Hinds
Champ® Luminaires are needed. The CHMM3 makes for a
simple conversion to the Crouse-Hinds Champ® Luminaire
family without opening the conduit system. The CHMM3 top hat
adapter will accept the following Crouse-Hinds Champ® Series
Luminaires:
• VMVL LED Champ® Series 3L, 5L, 7L, 9L, 11L, 13L, 17L, 21L,
25L.
The CHMM3 top hat adapter is compatible with the following
Thomas & Betts top hats from the Hazlux® product lineup:
• Rigid Pendant – VP2 and VP3
• Cone Top Pendant – VA2 and VA3
• Ceiling Mount – VC2 and VC3
• Wall Mount – VB2-VIB and VB3-VIB
• 25° Angle Stanchion – VS5, VS4-VIB and VS5-VIB. Not
applicable for 21L and 25L Champ VMV variants.
• Straight Stanchion –VL4-VIB and VL5-VIB
Note: CHMM3 Top Hat Adapter is not to be used with Thomas
& Betts Top Hats provided with fuses and fuse holders.
