Lights
Lights can be integrated nicely into the Bosch e-bike system on the Skid Loader.
Integrated light systems run off the large e-bike battery and use very little power.
The lights conveniently charge with the bike and are turned on and off at the Bosch
controller on the handlebar. Even when the drive system runs out of power, the smart
Bosch system saves some additional power to keep the lights on.
There are recommended ways to route the front and rear lights on the bike. See the rear
rack instructions for routing the rear light wire and mounting to the dedicated 50mm
spaced mounting holes.
The front light can be mounted in a variety of different positions including fork crown,
handlebars, front rack, etc. The front light wire can be routed internally from the Bosch
drive unit to the light by using the non-drive side port in the down tube near the head
tube. The stock two-wire rubber plug will need to be removed and then the dropper post,
Bosch controller, and light wire should be bound together and fed through the opening
in the frame (see Figure 4). After the wires are bound together, secure the bundle to the
frame using the available cable guide near the opening. Securing to the cable guide will
keep the wires in place and prevent abrasion in the frame opening.
Note: An authorized Bosch service center will need to activate the light output on your
e-bike before it is functional. Lights that have been plugged in but not activated at a
Bosch service center will not work.
Kickstand
The Skid Loader comes with a unique URSUS Jumbo 80 center-mount kickstand, chosen for its strength and stability. URSUS has modified
the specific kickstand configuration included with the Skid Loader to provide more tire clearance than the stock aftermarket offering.
(Ursus model number 80VN22X.)
Note: The URSUS Jumbo 80 kickstand is not
recommended for off-road use due to its low ground
clearance. Other aftermarket kickstands may not be
compatible with the Skid Loader frame mount and
likely do not provide adequate strength or security.
Installation Tools Required
• 3 and 8mm hex wrenches
• 10mm wrench
• Torque wrench capable of 5-30Nm
Installation Instructions
1. Attach kickstand to frame and tighten M10 mounting bolt temporarily.
2. Loosen M10 mounting bolt so that kickstand can shift on frame mounting surface. Tighten
set screws on back of kickstand mount to squeeze kickstand body against front wall. Hold set
screw and tighten flange nuts to 5Nm to secure adjustment.
3. Torque M10 mounting bolt to 30Nm.
Maintenance
• If kickstand ever becomes loose or movement of any kind is detected, immediately inspect kickstand and frame for any damage. If no
damage is detected and the kickstand has only loosened, reinstall the kickstand per the instructions. If loosening is persistent or damage
is detected, take your bike to a professional bicycle mechanic for service.
• Always use Surly approved replacement hardware if needed. Replacement hardware can be sourced through our normal distribution
partners. Check with your local retailer
WARNING:
• Improper installation of bolts may lead to product failure, causing serious injury. Do not exceed specified torque values.
Periodically inspect bolts and retighten if required.
• Failure to follow any of these requirements may lead to instability, resulting in a crash and serious injury.
Electrical Component Storage and Transportation
WARNING:
• Follow all storage and transportation requirements for your e-bike that Bosch has outlined in the battery and charging manuals.
Failure to do so could result in serious injury.
• Use only an e-bike-approved car rack for transport. Check with your rack manufacturer to ensure your e-bike is compatible.
Overloading a bike rack can result in serious injury.
