Pump test

NOTICE

Dräger recommends inspection of the seals for
damage and for cleanliness in the inside of the cap
before attaching the holder X-am 5100. If the seals are
damaged, the holder X-am 5100 must be replaced. For
cleaning information, see Chapter 14 on Page 66.
Keep the holder on the X-am 5100 dry and clean when
not in use.
The pump test is performed in the same way as for the
Dräger pump X-am 1/2/5000. During the pump test, the
default setting acoustic alarm is automatically reduced
to 80 dB (A).
The pump LED flashes red/
green, accompanied by a
signal tone.
Kink the hose between

the cap and pump inlet for
at least 2 s.
The pump LED lights red.
Unblock the intake flange/
sampling hose.
Dräger X-zone 5500 / 5800

Operation with external intrinsically safe power supply (X-am 5800 only)

If the test was successful:
The pump LED lights green,
accompanied by an acoustic
acknowledgment signal.
If the test was not successful:
The pump LED lights red,
accompanied by a continuous
tone.
The pump
automatically.
Ending operation
Switch off the Dräger X-am 5x00 in accordance with the


Instructions for Use.
The visual and the audible alarm will be activated for a
short time before the device switches off.
The X-zone is in STANDBY mode.
10 Operation with external
intrinsically safe power supply
(X-am 5800 only)
For a permanent supply of power in an explosion-hazard area,
the X-zone 5800 can be connected with an associated
electrical apparatus with intrinsically safe output circuits.

When using the Power Supply Ex:
1. Place the fully charged X-zone 5800 in the desired
location.
2. Connect the Power Supply Ex to the XEXT3 of the X-zone
5800.
3. Place the Power Supply Ex, together with the power
supply, beyond the explosion-hazard area.
When Power Supply Ex is connected, X-zone 5800 is supplied
from this source.

that is fully charged after a period of 28 days.
CAUTION
!
In the case of long-term use, a functional test must be
carried out regularly in accordance with national and
local guidelines after changing the location or after
replacing the X-am (see Chapter 3.4 on Page 43).
